*Assam Governor Visits Vibrant Village and SSB Border Outpost*




The Hon’ble Governor of Assam, Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, visited the Vibrant Village of Patkijuli High School and the Border Outpost Daranga of the 64th Battalion, Sashastra Seema Bal, in Tamulpur district on 10 October 2026. On this occasion, Shri Sudhir Verma, Inspector General, Frontier Guwahati, welcomed the Hon’ble Governor by presenting him with a bouquet.


At Patkijuli High School, the Hon’ble Governor visited the Medical Health and Welfare Programme and the Millets Stall organised by the SSB. Demonstrating his commitment to environmental conservation, he participated in a tree plantation drive along with the students. He also distributed books and sports equipment to the students and participated in a cultural programme organised to encourage and motivate them. On the occasion, the Hon’ble Governor flagged off an educational tour for a group of 20 local students sponsored by the 64th Battalion, SSB.


Subsequently, the Hon’ble Governor visited the SSB Border Outpost Daranga, where he was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with military traditions. He also participated in a tree plantation drive within the premises and interacted with officers and personnel during a Sainik Sammelan. During the interaction, Shri Sudhir Verma, Inspector General, highlighted the operational activities and achievements of the Frontier, along with the various welfare initiatives undertaken by the SSB for the people residing in border areas.


The Hon’ble Governor also joined the personnel for Bada Khana, a traditional communal feast symbolising mutual goodwill, unity, camaraderie and a collective spirit within the Force. His participation served to boost the morale of the personnel.


The Governor’s visit underscored the SSB’s commitment to education, healthcare, environmental conservation and public welfare. It also marked an important step towards strengthening coordination, trust and mutual understanding with border communities. The programme encouraged a spirit of cooperation, social responsibility and dedication to national service among students, the local community and SSB personnel.


Shri Sudhir Verma, Inspector General, Frontier Guwahati, expressed his gratitude to the Hon’ble Governor for his visit.


The occasion was attended by Shri Biswajit Daimary, Minister, Government of Assam; Shri Ganesh Kachari, Executive Member, Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC); Shri Victor Das, local MLA; the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of Tamulpur; Shri Manoj Kumar, Deputy Inspector General, SSB; Shri Neeraj Chand, Commandant; Shri Anuj Kumar, Commandant; and other distinguished dignitaries.
